A Conversation with Ambassador Samantha Power

February 25, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Please join the Takemi Program in International Health, the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University, the Carr Center, and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative for a special conversation with Ambassador Samantha Power.

Power is the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School and the William D. Zabel ’61 Professor of Practice in Human Rights at Harvard Law School. From 2013 to 2017, Power served as the 28th U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, as well as a member of President Obama’s cabinet. From 2009 to 2013, Power served on the National Security Council as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights. She is also a Pulitzer Prize winner and New York Times bestselling author.

The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Jesse Bump, executive director of the Takemi Program in International Health and lecturer on Global Health Policy in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. There will be an opportunity to purchase Power’s new book, “The Education of an Idealist.” She will sign books immediately after the event, outside of Kresge G1.

The conversation will take place in the Kresge building (677 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA) from noon to 1 p.m. The event is currently at capacity so new registrants will be put on a wait list and will not be provided lunch. There is overflow space in the Kresge Atrium (first floor, next to the cafeteria) for those who did not receive entry to the event.
