Dr. Marie Plaisime is a medical sociologist specializing in AI and health equity, with a focus on clinical decision-making and bias in healthcare systems. As an FXB Research Associate and National Science Foundation (NSF) fellow, her work investigates how structural and algorithmic biases embedded in healthcare data, technologies, and clinical interactions influence medical training, policymaking, and patient outcomes. Dr. Plaisime employs critical computational, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches to identify and address inequities embedded in AI systems and healthcare delivery models. She earned her Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from Howard University and holds an MPH from the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University. She is also a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Health Policy Research Scholar.
