June 24, 2022 — The U.S. Supreme Court officially reversed Roe v. Wade today, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion upheld for nearly a half century, no longer exists.
The decision means that abortion rights – namely access to safe and essential reproductive health services – will likely be rolled back in nearly half of the states imminently, with more restrictions likely to follow. In response to the decision, the FXB Center released the following statement:
“The FXB Center for Health and Human Rights joins public health, medical, and human rights communities in denouncing the harmful decision today by the Supreme Court to strip away the constitutional right to an abortion. This decision will cost lives, hurt families and communities, and disproportionately impact poor people and people of color.”
