Heat and Health: How do they intersect?

Join us for a webinar co-organized with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in North Macedonia and UNDP Accelerator Labs focusing on the intersection of Health and Heat. This event will bring together several actors to discuss and collaborate on addressing the negative impacts of extreme heat on human health and other aspects of our daily lives. We will explore the intersection of urban heat islands and people, share knowledge and ideas, and identify opportunities for joint interventions.

Natalia Linos, MSc, ScD

Natalia Linos, MSc, ScD

Dr. Natalia Linos is a social epidemiologist and the Executive Director of the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard. She has over 15 years of experience working at the global and local levels on some of the most pressing public health challenges of our time: from climate change to systemic racism.

Kimberly Humphrey

Kimberly Humphrey, MBBS, MPH

Dr. Kimberly Humphrey is a Climate Change and Human Health Fellow at the Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment and an emergency physician from Australia. Kimberly’s main research focus is the adaptation of health systems to climate change, particularly in relation to emergency medicine. Her current main area of research involves investigating the impacts of extreme weather events on health care, specifically on emergency department and primary care use, with a focus on the impacts of wildfires in Australia and California.

Armen Grigoryan

Armen Grigoryan, Resident Representative, UNDP

Mr. Armen Grigoryan was appointed as UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of North Macedonia on October 11, 2021. Prior to this appointment, Armen was Regional Cluster Leader for Climate Change/Disaster Resilience and Global Energy Policy Advisor for Europe and Central Asia in UNDP at Istanbul Regional Hub since January 2015. Armen has also worked in the World Bank, the United States Department of Treasury, US Peace Corps, etc. Armen holds an MA degree in International Relations and European Studies from the Central European University and BA in Pedagogy, History and English Language. He speaks English, Russian, French, and is native in Armenian.

Gina Lucarelli

Gina Lucarelli, Team Leader, Accelerator Labs Global Network, UNDP

Gina leads the team that built the world’s largest learning network on sustainable development through the Accelerator Labs, 91 social innovation labs embedded in the United Nations Development Programme. She’s been working on human rights and development work for over 20 years, but is just getting started! A systems thinker, designer and fixer, she leads, learns from, and creates space for experiments that tackle complex development problems and the new categories and opportunities they create. She has focused her development work on Asia, Eastern Europe and most recently Africa.
